Meet Our Team

  • Interior design has been an integral part of Sarah’s life for over 30 years. She applies her passion for color, functionality and client satisfaction to every project. Sarah loves sophisticated color palettes and high functioning, beautiful spaces. Her mission is always to create environments that are as unique as each client and tailored to their specific needs.

Sarah graduated with honors from The Ohio State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design and a Minor in Fine Art.  Her degree focus within the Industrial Design program was Interior Design, though classes in both graphic and product design were also required.  In 2002, she passed the rigorous NCIDQ exam and earned her professional interior design license.

For the first 12 years of her career, she worked as a Lead Designer for two large architectural firms in Seattle (NBBJ and CallisonRTKL), specializing in healthcare and retail design.  During that time, one of her projects was published in Interior Design Magazine and another won the Modern Healthcare Design Award.  Projects ranged from small clinics to new 200,000 sf nursing towers and surgery centers.  Retail clients included Victoria’s Secret, J. Crew, Esprit, Cutter and Buck and Mr. Rags.

Sarah took a 10-year break from corporate design to concentrate on raising her four children and focus on her artwork.  She sold fused glass and paintings at galleries and art shows in Colorado and around the country.  Sarah later returned to interior design on the residential side. She has owned her own design business, Blackbird Kitchen and Bath, in Evergreen, Colorado for the last 7 years.

Sarah is a proven leader in providing imaginative, inspired and creative solutions. She has expertise in all phases of design projects, in both the residential and commercial fields. She also has an ability to cultivate lasting relationships, while achieving high satisfaction with clients.

Sarah is a glass artist, painter, photographer, skier, biker, and triathlete who is always up for any adventure.  She also loves to travel.  Her experiences in 40 different countries bring inspiration and perspective to all of her designs.

  • After spending nearly 10 years in healthcare, Michelle recognized that she was destined to be a designer, as she often found herself taking apart and furniture and architectural fixtures and then putting them back together making them more beautiful and structurally sound. She always loved bringing new life to things that would otherwise be discarded! This ignited a passion for pursuing a new career combining her technical mind along with her creative talents. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2009 from The Art Institute of Colorado with a degree in Interior Architecture and Design and has been taking apart and putting back together residential spaces ever since!

Michelle now has over 17 years of professional experience after working for several design firms and having her own design business. She has designed countless kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and several custom homes. Her design philosophy lends to functionality and efficiency as well as an enthusiasm for making the design process enjoyable and fun! She has found her niche in home remodels, and values the importance of successfully portraying the client's aesthetic, priorities, and lifestyle. She has been referred to by client as a magician and has great enthusiasm for exceeding her client's expectations. Michelle is very excited to have found “her people” at Blackbird Kitchen and Bath and loves being part of this team of magnificent and talented ladies.

While Michelle was born in Northern California, her family moved to the Denver area at a young age, and was raised in Westminster, CO. She has since moved back to CA for a short time only to prove her heart belongs in CO! She and her 14 year old weimaraner, Addison (Addy) live in NW Denver and enjoy walking around Sloan’s Lake and frequenting the many small businesses surrounding the area. In addition to continuing her furniture refinishing, she also collects succulents, visits her family cabin in Drake, CO, camps in the mountains, loves to dance, and enjoys spending time with friends and family . . . including her identical twin sister, Stephanie!

  • Erin has designed over one hundred rooms along the Front Range and is always eager for the next project.  She excels at collaborating with clients to reimagine and repurpose their space into something they’ll love even more.

Designing that great space takes more planning than most people can fathom.  Good News - Erin is a detail-oriented person.  Her process always begins with function.  She strives to have your space make sense for the way YOU use it.  Then, you get to play with form.  How do you want it to feel or what mood do you want to reflect?  For years to come, Erin wants you to walk into your new space and smile.

As long as she can remember, Erin has been drawn to studying floor plans and solving problems.  Hands-on experience with laying foundation and brick, installing drywall and flooring gave her an early understanding of construction processes.  Designing her own Golden house remodel led her to this career, which combines her engineering mind with creative expression.  And now, as a Certified Kitchen & Bath Designer (CKBD), Erin specializes in the design, planning and execution of residential kitchens and bathrooms.

Outside of her career, she and her husband love exploring favorite Colorado spots (Ridgway, Snowmass, the Blue River) and soaking in more of the West (Jackson, Cody, and Mendocino).  That is, after visiting their three daughters’ families (4 grandchildren!) in Denver, South Carolina and Arizona.
